About Me

I am an internationally known orthopedic surgeon, biomechanics researcher, and medical device innovator focused on advancing hip and knee reconstruction, implant design, and musculoskeletal care through engineering, research, and patient-centered surgical practice.
My background includes clinical practice, academic research, product development, and advisory work in orthopedic innovation. I hold several U.S. patents for orthopedic implants and instruments and have published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals. My work has been recognized on CNN News, the Discovery Channel, and in Science Magazine. I also received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor in recognition of my international surgical contributions.
During my years in Boston, I held appointments at Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, and MIT. At Massachusetts General Hospital, I designed and directed the BioMotion Research Laboratory, dedicated to studying human motion and rehabilitation. I also founded the Institute for Mobility and Longevity, a nonprofit organization that supports orthopedic research and education. In addition, I served on bioengineering faculties at MIT, the University of Florida, the University of Maine, and Arizona State University.
I co-founded Palm Beach Orthopedic Institute and have served in leadership roles, including Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at institutions in the United States and internationally, including the Eastern Maine Medical Center, Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Center in Riyadh and Dubai, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.
My board and advisory experience includes serving as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at Regenerative Technologies Corporation, orthopedic design and patent leadership with Enovis, and advisory and consulting work with Waldemar Link and Shalby Advanced Technologies.
I earned an MBA in Healthcare Policy and Operations from Brandeis University, adding business, government policy, and operational perspective to my clinical, international, technical, and leadership expertise.
My patented orthopedic innovations include the 3DKnee™ and 3D Empowr® high-flexion total knee replacement systems, developed after a decade of research and implanted globally, along with multiple patents reflecting innovative hip implant concepts.
Building on this experience, I am particularly interested in board, advisory, and collaboration opportunities with medical device companies, research organizations, and leadership teams focused on evaluating, developing, and licensing evidence-based orthopedic technologies.
I am currently based at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, where I continue to pursue innovations in treating patients with severe arthritis and complex orthopedic implant failures. I also collaborate with Gardner Orthopedics, LLC, in Fort Myers, Florida, where I serve as Director of Research and Director of the Adult Reconstructive Fellowship Program, and I am an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida. These roles keep me actively involved in complex orthopedic care, particularly hip and knee joint revision, as well as research, surgical education of residents, and academic engagement.
For over 20 years, I have served as an invited reviewer for The Journal of Arthroplasty, keeping me closely engaged with current research and new developments in the field.
With my primary focus in the United States, I continue to practice as a consultant orthopedic surgeon in the United Arab Emirates and India, where I participate in surgery, research, and teaching to advance musculoskeletal care globally.
